About Us

Company Profile

At Industrial Finishing Specialists, based in the North East of England, we offer a coating service second to none.

We formed our company in May 1991, and quickly gained a reputation for high class coating, together with a speedy turn around of goods.

We currently have ISO 9002 and Investors In People, which shows we are committed to quality and our employee's.

We are a small, family business employing 16 people, all committed to the firm belief that quality comes first, just ask our customers.

Our strength is offering a coating system with proved weathering performance, on mild steel sections, that are normally galvanized prior to painting.

This is predominantly in the architectural market place, which by its nature demands the highest quality available.

Extensive R&D work was carried out between ourselves and a major paint manufacturer, to devise a paint system that could be tested to BS697, 'Galvanising and Painting of Mild Steel Sections', but without the galvanizing under the paint.

All the relevant BS697 tests passed with flying colours.

The elimination of galvanizing gives a more aesthetic appearance. Because of the inherent problems with galvanizing, i.e. the need to grind inclusions and drips in the galvanizing, problems with over galvanizing on welded areas, wire marks where galvanized parts have been hung, and most importantly, out gassing in the powder coating.

The result is a perfect visual coating, with a high performance paint system that can be applied to mild steel fabrications, where visual appearance and performance is paramount.

Another major benefit to customers is that parts that should be galvanized; but can not be due to their construction i.e. box section (filling with zinc), and thin metal (warping); can now be powder coated for external use and receive a written guarantee.

If the coating is to be used in an environment where harsh physical damage can occur, galvanizing would have to be used as the protective layer.

We have several blue chip customers, but the majority of our work is for the local small to medium sized manufacturers.

At Industrial Finishing Specialists, no job is too small.  We are currently building a reputation for blasting and powder coating of mild steel components, to a very high standard, SA 3.

We recently achieved Investors in People and ISO 9002, which we see as part of our commitment to staff and customers, along with a comprehensive COSHH policy and in depth operator training for all our personnel.
