Powder Testing

Under Construction, Part Active

Its no use just applying the powder and putting the work in the oven, you need to have confidence that the coating you have applied will perform when the work is put to use, whether it be outside and open to the elements, or inside and in contact with everyday life.

Powder coating, if applied and cured correctly, is one of the finest coatings available, however, if it is under cured, it will break down very quickly.

It could look good, even feel good, but if its not cured for the right time at the right temperature, the coating will be very brittle, even tapping the coating with a small coin can cause the film to easily chip.

Here at IFS we carry out testing on a regular basis, on actual production for the none destructive testing, and also on test plates, for the tests that would damage the coating.

We even have the ability to check the actual temperature of the product we are coating, even when its in the oven, this takes all the guess work out of powder coating.

Also, its not only the cure that has to be focused on, there is the pre-treatment or preparation, prime coats or etch primers, all need their own individual methods of test to ensure a quality product.
